V also felt very underwhelming in this arc. Ayato's expedition underground could either be just a foreshadowing of the dragon or an introduction to a deeper storyline, depending on whether or not a 3rd act happens.
A hot button topic on our Discord but my take on it is that although it's possible to end it in 2 chapters, it would put to waste a lot of potential for more world-building.
